Horizon of Perfect Innocence

"Perfect Innocence" is a concept used to describe a state in which an individual or a society sees itself as entirely blameless. A self-image that excludes guilt, responsibility, or reflection. According to historian Timothy Snyder, it is a dangerous idea: those who believe themselves to be infallible can justify almost anything.
In this room, the walls are covered with black sandpaper – a surface that both resists and invites touch. You, the viewer, become a participant. By carving horizon lines, you contribute to a collective trace, a silent repetition of a gesture that leaves marks. Every gaze seeks its vanishing point.
The line – simple, almost innocent – is repeated until it fills the entire room. When does an action become a habit, a norm? What does it mean when a mark is left without thought? Whose innocence are we defending?
